Scientist Finally Complete Detailed Map of The Wreck Site

RMS Titanic was a passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,517 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage. One of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, she was built between 1909-11 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. She carried over 2,200 people – 1,316 passengers and about 900 crew. The ship was designed to be the last word in comfort and luxury. Due to outdated maritime safety regulations, she carried only enough lifeboats for 1,178 people – a third of her total passenger and crew capacity.

Titanic’s Bow

When Titanic sank in the early hours of April 15, 1912, it’s stern and bow sections separated. The two pieces came to rest roughly 2,000 feet apart from one another on the ocean floor, 2.3 miles below the surface of the North Atlantic.

With the 100th anniversary of Titanic’s sinking approaching, a team consisting of scientist, engineers and imaging experts are joining forces to discover “How the “unsinkable’ ship broke apart and sank 2 and a half miles below the ocean’s surface. The ‘Titanic Incident’ event occurred on April 15th, 1912.  On April 15th at 8pm ET, the History Channel is going to air a special “Titanic at 100: Mystery Solved”. This will portain to the mission, capturing of high-tech mapmaking process, unveiling of incredible pieces of wreckage that has never been seen before, and the expedition’s findings will be presented.

Wreck Site Map From 2010 Expedition

A collaboration between various partners, the 2010 expedition to the Titanic wreck site produced the first comprehensive map of the 15-square-mile debris field. AUVs (autonomous underwater vehicles) and an ROV (remote operated vehicle) were used in conjunction to harness cutting-edge 2-D, 3-D and sonar technology.

In 1985, the RMS Titanic wreck was discovered off the coast of Newfoundland. However, even after quarter of a century, nearly half of the wreck had been unexplored. However, during the 2010 expodition, experts equipped with sonar technology and high-resolution cmeras mapped the debris field in its entirety. They captured 15 square miles of the ocean floor llttered with artifacts that are large and small. The previous surveys explored 60 percent of the area, but they left out significant pieces of the sunken ship and limited conclusions regarding Titanic’s sinking to theories, conjecture and land-based studies.

The Deckhouse Debris

The so-called deckhouse debris, a pile of rubble located at a significant distance from the rest of the wreckage, was of particular interest to the analysts during the 2010 expedition. Containing the base of Titanic’s third funnel and surrounding decks, this piece and its location in relation to other elements helped experts reconstruct how the ship broke apart.

The Discovery expedition’s participants generated a map that was not only more complete but m also more precise than earlier attempts. Although there had been dozens of expeditions to Titanic, no prevoius survey has created a comprehensive site survey map of the Titanic wreck site. They only covered a portion of the wreck site, since they could only stay down for so long. Key information was lost, when experts from previous expeditions fused together these disparate slices back on the surface. This included the exact locations of artifacts and fragments.

The debris field

This composite image, released by RMS Titanic Inc., and made from sonar and more than 100,000 photos taken in 2010 from the unmanned, underwater robots, shows a small portion of a comprehensive map of the 3-by-5-mile debris field surrounding the stern of the Titanic on the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. Picture: AP / RMS Titanic Inc.

Pieces of Titanic’s Double Bottom

Once a single piece encasing the hull, Titanic’s double bottom is thought to have split apart after the ship broke in half. It has otherwise remained relatively intact over the last century.

Titanic’s Stern and Surrounding Debris

A cloud of debris lies beside Titanic’s stern, containing remnants of the galley and upper decks, three baggage cranes, boilers and cylinders, among numerous other pieces. This zone is considered “ground zero” of the sinking, which is thought to have occurred directly above the area.

The “Bigger Piece”

Salvaged in 1998, the 15-ton “Big Piece” is featured in Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition in Las Vegas, analyst dubbed the larger chunk of wreckage encompassing several decks the “Bigger Piece” for this reason.

Cover of Titanic’s Number-One Cargo Hatch

Located at the far edge of the debris field beyond the bow, the cover of Titanic’s number-one cargo hatch is thought to have blown off the ship when water burst out of the bow as it slammed into the ocean floor.

Funnel Remains

The remains of one of Titanic’s funnels have been positively identified, buried in the sand with only the black band around its top having survived. An entire set of whistles is still attached to it.

Surveillance is Theft

Google Copies your Hard-Drive

Acer Chromebook [WP]

Ironically, Google’s Chromebook is the solution to this problem. Just keep your real computer with a hard-drive off line, or use anti-malware and anti-virus programs remove any tracking components that may have been installed.

A Chrome book has no hard-drive, and therefore is my choice for using on the internet.
I can save PDFs that I download onto a flash drive, I can have a 64GB Micro SD card installed.
I am getting the $199.00 ACER Chromebook at Best Buy.

If I want to surf to other locations on the web, but don’t want Google to Track me, then I can just…

You can still use you computer with a hard-drive, but just don’t sign-in to any social networks or email. If you do, say sign-in to Google, then Google is going to be tracking you.

Google+ Violating Privacy of Personal Photos

Photos of the storage facility where I am storing some stuff of mine, I took with my tablet computer, and only uploaded to the hard drive of my laptop computer. Then Google suddenly post some of the pic on Google Plus.

It doesn’t matter if the photos are only visible to me. I did not authorize or give any permission to Google to access the contents of my hard-drive. I did not upload these pictures. I have had my current laptop, which I purchased new last June (of 2013) run very slow, be unresponsive and even freeze. It seems Google is using it’s software tricks to have my computer work for it more while having my computer deprioritize me, when I am trying to use my computer.

The problem is only when I am online, offline, my computer is very fast.

If Google is accessing peoples photos without authorization from the owner of the pics, then what else are they copying (stealing) from my computer?

While I enjoy using gmail and Google Plus, I just have to say that…

Christopher Dorner is 1st Drone Target on U.S. Soil

February 12, 2013

Ex-Cop Is Drone Target

Despite the fact that the report clearly referred to spy drones and not lethal drones, Twitter exploded with hysteria about how Dorner had now been marked for assassination.

Many Twitter users are in full-blown freak-out mode,” with innumerable messages condemning the notion that Dorner will potentially become the first American killed on U.S. soil with a drone.

Despite the confusion, the Dorner case is proving to be a useful poster child for the widespread introduction of drones for law enforcement use in America.

Could police turn to armed drones in the hunt for Dorner, legitimizing the use of technology that has thus far only been deployed against alleged terrorists in places like Afghanistan and Pakistan? And how will wide spread use of drones effect innocent civilians in respect to privacy rights? This will most likely effect and pierce privacy rights.

While it’s highly unlikely that lethal drones will be used to assassinate Dorner, a more realistic option would be to deploy the the ShadowHawk Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, previously used against suspected terrorists in Afghanistan and East Africa, which has the ability to tase suspects from above as well as carrying 12-gauge shotguns and grenade launchers.

The ShadowHawk is a 50lb mini drone chopper that can be fitted with an XREP taser with the ability to fire four barbed electrodes that can be shot to a distance of 100 feet, delivering “neuromuscular incapacitation” to the victim. The drone can travel at a top speed of 70MPH and can operate for 3.5 hours over land and sea.

WIth the hunt for Christopher Dorner going cold, authorities have offered a $1 million reward for information leading to the capture of the former LAPD officer, who is wanted for the murder of three people. Dorner has vowed to launch “asymmetrical warfare” against police after he was fired in 2009 for filing a false complaint of excessive force against his training officer.

New Horizons Approach to Pluto

January 19, 2013

New Horions - Pluto

New Horizons is the Closest Space-Probe to Approach Pluto

New Horizons to reconnoiter the dwarf-planet Pluto and it’s moons.

Plutonian surface simulation

The New Horizons probe covered more than a million kilometers per day for nearly six years. New Horizons has a propulsion system more advanced than any other exploratory space probe.

The New Horizons probe is 1.5 billion kilometers from pluto, and is the closest any space-probe has ever gotten to Pluto, and continues to get closer each day, a million kilometers each day.

NASA’s Voyager never came this close to Pluto, and New Horizons continues to set proximity to Pluto records till it gets as close to Pluto, as it’s going to. Approximately 7,767 miles (12,500 kilometers) from the planet, on July 14, 2015. It’s been six years in flight, and just three years until New Horizons encounters the dwarf-planet Pluto.

Current Position- New Horizons

New Horizons is in hibernation-mode, its most essential systems turned off, speeding away from our Sun at over 55,500 kilometers per hour.

At the time New Horizons arrives at Pluto in mid-2015, the planet and its moons will be so close that the space-probe’s cameras will spot features as small as a football field.

Then New Horizons heads off to the Kuiper belt, which is an orbital belt. But not of asteroids, its composed of pluto-like dwarf-plants, complete with their own moons.

New Horizons is approximately as far from Pluto, as Earth is from Saturn.

Free Fall From Earth’s Stratosphere

One BIG leap for mankind! RED BULL STRATOS!

Red Bull Stratos Project

This is a brand with probably the highest penetration and largest market share in the global energy drink industry.

The Red Bull energy drink brand has established its sport line with an extremely bold project:

Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner, has established a world-record by falling back down to Earth from 120,000 (~23 miles) feet high. The Red Bull Stratos project has been prepared for three years and now the dream has come true.

                                Red Bull Stratos Banner

The point in focus is Red Bull’s gutsy new project: Red Bull Stratos. On paper it seems simple: One Man – Go to Edge of Space – Jump – 120,000 feet – First Human to break sound barrier – Make Records – Get Talked About.

It is content like this that will get brands talked about. The success lies in finding a great idea and then following through.

This is the new generation of marketing. If brands get this right, we will see a new wave of consumer engagement where television commercials (TVCs) will become obsolete.

So, Where is the Idea?

Here, the idea lies in identifying an opportunity and finding the right man to do something that people will talk about, not only for a few months, but till the record is broken. And the best part is, people will talk about this while the other record is being broken. That is the power of the idea.

The Jump from the Stratosphere!
